Green Alchemy Pork is “special” because it is produced by feeding our hogs organic grains produced on our farm. (No certified organic hogs are available at this time — only pigs fed organic feed.)
We raise a limited amount of hogs a year, so get your order in early. We send our pigs to a local butcher who can preserve the bacon and hams with (non-organic) or without (organic) sodium nitrite.
We generally raise Berkshire pigs because of their excellent flavor. The feeder hogs are raised to around 250lbs at which they are sent to the butcher.
Contact us for up-to-date prices and note that we only sell our pork by halves or wholes.
Berkshire pork, prized for juiciness, flavour and tenderness, is pink-hued and heavily marbled. Its high fat content makes it suitable for long cooking and high-temperature cooking.[2] 2.^ a b Zeldes, Leah A. (January 27, 2010). “Eat this! Berkshire pork, a meaty heritage”. Dining Chicago.
