Sustainable Living

Wendell Berry described “sustainable” as “not eroding communities or the soils!”

At Green Alchemy Farm we have involved sustainability in our everyday existence. We grow our own vegetables and fruits and preserve them by canning, freezing, drying, and fermenting. Our meats are raised on organic pasture, may it be chickens or turkeys in poultry “tractors”, or Berkshire pork or grass-fed Limousin Beef. We eschew the corporate farming model of chemical herbicides, pesticides, inorganic fertilizers, and genetic modification to strive to a healthy model of self-sufficiency.

We offer classes in sustainability from organic food production to composting to draft horse work. We actively pursue research in sustainable agriculture, i.e. organic cultivation techniques with sunflowers or organic wormers, and hope to add to the greater organic community. You can appreciate, protect and respect the earth more when you dig your hands into her soil and harvest her fruits. Below see some of the activities we have been involved in over the years.
